1 COVID-19-related death, 328 new cases reported

Nov. 9, 2020. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting 328 new COVID-19 cases and a COVID-19-related death: A male in his 80s with underlying health conditions.
The seven-day moving average for new cases per day is at 335.4. Residents are advised to avoid gatherings with people outside your household.
As reported on Sunday, the Washoe County test site is only testing those who have symptoms of COVID-19, except for those who are a confirmed close contact to a positive case and first responders. This decision will allow for residents to get tested in a timelier manner and allow for faster response times to those who get tested.
- Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 16,208 (+328 from 11/8)
- Deaths: 208 (+1)
- Recovered: 12,150 (+124)
- Active cases: 3,850 (+203)
- Currently hospitalized: 141 (+21)
- Cases who have discharged from hospital: 989 (+5)

- Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of November 9: 195,104 (+1,885 since 11/8)
Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.
Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of November 9:
- 78 percent staffed hospital beds are occupied (-5% since 11/6)
- 66 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (-3%)
- 58 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-3%)
- 22 percent of all ventilators are in use (+0%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
How residents are deemed “Recovered” from COVID-19 in Washoe County
For self-isolation and quarantine, the Health District follows Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) guidance on when COVID-19 positive cases are deemed recovered. A common misconception is that negative test results can be used to end the quarantine of a close contact to a case. Close contacts must remain quarantined for 14 days from their contact with the case regardless of negative test results they may receive.
