One additional COVID-19-related death reported in Washoe County

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting one additional COVID-19-related death in Washoe County: A male in his 60s with underlying health conditions. There are 115 deaths in Washoe County that are determined by a physician or medical examiner to be COVID-19-related as the main cause of death, underlying cause of death or contributing cause of death.

Additionally, there were 73 recoveries and 50 new cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 5,343 (+50 from 8/1)
  • Deaths: 115 (+1)
  • Recovered: 3,968 (+73)
  • Active cases: 1,260 (-24)
  • Currently hospitalized: 87 (-2)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 391 (+1)

COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of 2: 87,977 (+1,527 since 8/1)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of July 31:

  • 63 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+0% since 7/30)
  • 33 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+3%)
  • 15 percent of all ventilators are in use (+1%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
