110 new positive COVID-19 cases reported in Washoe County

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting a record 110 additional cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County, breaking the record of 108 set on June 26. Active cases grew to 978, also a new record and 65 higher than the previous high of 913, set on June 29.

With the Fourth of July holiday approaching, the Washoe County Health District is strongly recommending that residents reconsider any large celebratory gatherings where social distancing and universal mask usage cannot be maintained. Community transmission of COVID-19 in Washoe County is occurring at a rapid pace and one of the main reasons why is because residents are attending large gatherings where people are not wearing masks nor practicing social distancing.  

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 2,766 (+110 from 6/29)
  • Deaths: 75 (+0)
  • Recoveries: 1,713 (+45)
  • Active cases: 978 (+65)
  • Currently hospitalized: 79 (+1)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 221 (-8)*

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of June 30: 49,627 (+369 since 6/29)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of June 30, 2020:

  • 73 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (-1% since June 29)
  • 48 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+6%)
  • 20 percent of all ventilators are in use (+1%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
