Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting 11 additional recoveries and 10 new cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County. The total number of recoveries has reached 700.
- Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 1,305 (+10 from 5/19)
- Deaths: 48 (+0)
- Recoveries: 700 (+11)
- Active cases: 557 (-1)
- Currently hospitalized: 56 (+1)
- Cases who have discharged from hospital: 110 (+2)
To get tested for COVID-19, simply fill out this form here. Testing is only available for those showing symptoms of COVID-19, except for healthcare workers, first responders and those at long term care facilities. The form is also available in Spanish, which can be found here. There is testing at Walmart and Saint Mary’s.
Face coverings are more important than ever as we strive to reopen businesses in Washoe County. Wearing a mask is strongly recommended as it can help reduce the spread of COVID-19, especially from those who are at higher risk of dying from COVID-19.

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of May 19, 2020:
- 71 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+4% since May 18)
- 49 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+1%)
- 17 percent of all ventilators are in use (+2%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
CDC guidance on funeral attendance
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises caution for those attending funerals.
While there is no risk of contracting COVID-19 at a funeral from a person who is deceased from the virus, the risk for attendees contracting COVID-19 at the service is increased. Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak’s emergency declarations prohibits gatherings of 10 or more people, per section one of directive 007.
Those attending funerals should wear masks or face coverings and practice 6 feet of social distancing.
Services held outdoors can reduce the risk of COVID-19 spread compared to indoor services. Those who are sick should not attend. Virtual or phone arrangements are advised to allow for people to view or listen to the service from their home.
