Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting 97 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County and 68 recoveries.

Vulnerable populations in Washoe County that are most affected by COVID-19 continue to be the Hispanic population, the 20-29 age group and the elderly.

About 42 percent of all COVID-19 cases identify as Hispanic, which is higher than any other race/ethnicity. About 22 percent of cases who died of COVID-19-related complications identified as Hispanic.

The 20-29 age range has the highest number of COVID-19 cases of any age group (2,516 cases, 25 percent).

People aged 60 and up make up most of the COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County. There have been 138 COVID-19-related deaths in the 60-99 age range, which accounts for 84 percent of the total. See more COVID-19 statistics in Washoe County on our COVID-19 Dashboard.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 10,107 (+97 from 10/5)
  • Deaths: 165 (+0)
  • Recovered: 8,708 (+68)
  • Active cases: 1,234 (+29)
  • Currently hospitalized: 65 (-2)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 706 (+1)

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of October 6: 149,216 (+1,073 since 10/5)

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of October 6:

  • 62 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+1% since 10/5)
  • 50 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+1%)
  • 18 percent of all ventilators are in use (+2%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
