Two COVID-19-related deaths reported in Washoe County

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting two additional COVID-19-related deaths: A male in his 70s with an underlying health condition and a male in his 60s – it’s under investigation if there were underlying health conditions. There have been 149 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County.

Additionally, there were 51 new COVID-19 cases reported in Washoe County with 37 recoveries.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 7,981 (+51 from 9/11)
  • Deaths: 149 (+2)
  • Recovered: 6,668 (+37)
  • Active cases: 1,164 (+12)
  • Currently hospitalized: 39 (-2)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 608 (+1)

COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of September 12: 121,406 (+1,164 since 9/11)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of September 11:

  • 65 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+1% since 9/10)
  • 39 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-2%)
  • 21 percent of all ventilators are in use (+3%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
