Additional COVID-19-related death reported in Washoe County, 38 new COVID-19 cases

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting an additional COVID-19-related death in Washoe County, the 76th overall. The deceased is a female in her 90s with underlying health conditions.

In addition, there were 38 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Washoe County with 42 recoveries. Among the 2,804 cases of COVID-19, nearly 100 have been younger than 9 years old, with the youngest case being 3 weeks old. For more COVID-19 demographic statistics, see our COVID-19 Dashboard here.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 2,804 (+38 from 6/30)
  • Deaths: 76 (+1)
  • Recoveries: 1,755 (+42)
  • Active cases: 973 (-5)
  • Currently hospitalized: 82 (+3)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 226 (+5)

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of July 1: 50,958 (+1,331 since 6/30)

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of July 1, 2020:

  • 75 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+2% since 6/30)
  • 51 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+3%)
  • 20 percent of all ventilators are in use (+0%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
