102 recoveries, 92 new cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting 102 additional recoveries and 92 new cases of COVID-19 in Washoe County.

The Health District is urging all Washoe County residents to limit large gatherings for this 4th of July holiday to protect our vulnerable population from COVID-19. The age ranges most contracting COVID-19 in Washoe County are from 20s to 40s. The most COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County are in the age ranges of 60s-90s.

The surge in cases had directly corresponded to large gatherings like BBQs with family and friends and other types of celebratory congregation. Please be responsible and limit gatherings and, per the Governor’s directive, practice social distancing of 6 or more feet and wear a face covering.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 3,165 (+92 from 7/3)
  • Deaths: 79 (+0)
  • Recoveries: 1,967 (+102)
  • Active cases: 1,119 (-10)
  • Currently hospitalized: 84 (+0)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 234 (+3)

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of July 4: 55,464 (+1,457 since 7/3)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of July 3, 2020:

  • 80 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+3% since 7/2)
  • 53 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+8%)
  • 21 percent of all ventilators are in use (+3%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
