103 new COVID-19 cases, active cases reach new high

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting 103 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County, and the number of active COVID-19 cases reached a new high with 1,219 (previous high was 1,190 on July 5).

There were 46 recoveries and the number of cases currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 is 72, the lowest point since June 23.

We’re reminding residents that new recommendations limit gatherings to 25, as Washoe County was listed in the “Yellow Zone” by the White House Coronavirus Task Force.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 4,054 (+103 from 7/17)
  • Deaths: 101 (+0)
  • Recovered: 2,734 (+46)
  • Active cases: 1,219 (+57)
  • Currently hospitalized: 72 (-3)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 311 (+5)

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of July 18: 69,705 (+1,217 since 7/17)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of July 18:

  • 73 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (-3% since 7/17)
  • 62 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-4%)
  • 15 percent of all ventilators are in use (+7%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
