71 recoveries, 49 new COVID-19 cases reported

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting 71 recoveries and 49 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County.
The Hispanic population in Washoe County continues to be disproportionally affected by COVID-19. About 40 percent of all COVID-19 cases identified themselves as Hispanic, which includes 3,014 cases. TheCOVID19Washoe.com website has COVID-19 resources in Spanish as well asinformational documents, social media graphics and videos in Spanish. Free COVID-19 testing is available by calling 775-328-2427 and Spanish-speaking personnel are available. Risk assessments can also be done in Spanish online here.
- Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 6,816 (+49 from 8/23)
- Deaths: 133 (+0)
- Recovered: 5,558 (+71)
- Active cases: 1,125 (-22)
- Currently hospitalized: 86 (+1)
- Cases who have discharged from hospital: 491 (+1)
COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County
- Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of August 24: 105,951 (+703 since 8/23)

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of August 24:
- 60 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (-3% since 8/21)
- 42 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+3%)
- 13 percent of all ventilators are in use (+3%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
