3 COVID-19-related deaths, 178 cases reported

Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting three COVID-19 related deaths in Washoe County: Two males in their 60s and one male in his 70s; all three had underlying health conditions. There have been 180 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County.

Additionally, we’re reporting 178 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County with 81 recoveries. The 178 cases reported is the second highest number of cases reported in one day (highest was 179 on July 30).

The 7-day moving average for new cases per day increased to 108.4, which is the highest point on record. The increase in new COVID-19 cases is attributed to private gatherings and other interactions with people outside their household.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 10,984 (+178 from 10/13)
  • Deaths: 180 (+3)
  • Recovered: 9,381 (+81)
  • Active cases: 1,423 (+94)
  • Currently hospitalized: 81 (+4)
  • Cases who have discharged from hospital: 762 (+12)

COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County

  • Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of October 14: 159,367 (+1,912 since 10/13)

Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.

Hospital bed and ventilator information

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of October 14:

  • 68 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+3% since 10/13)
  • 44 percent of the all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-1%)
  • 22 percent of all ventilators are in use (+0%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
