Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting an additional COVID-19 related death in Washoe County: a male in his 60s with underlying health conditions. Total cumulative COVID-19 cases crossed 12,000 in Washoe County with 350 new cases and 73 additional recoveries. This is the largest single day increase in total and active COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began.
The Health District is urging extreme caution when out and about due to the high number of new cases and level of disease transmission that is currently occurring in the community.
- Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 12,304 (+350 from 10/22)
- Deaths: 190 (+1)
- Recovered: 10,274 (+73)
- Active cases: 1,840 (+276)
- Currently hospitalized: 79 (-2)
- Cases who have discharged from hospital: 805 (+1)
COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County
- Total number of COVID-19 tests performed in Washoe County as of October 23: 170,104 (+1,231 since 10/22)
Note: These figures are provided by the State of Nevada and can be found on the State Dashboard. COVID-19 tests may include non-Washoe County residents who were tested in Washoe County.
Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of October 23:
- 69 percent of all staffed short-term, acute-care hospital beds are occupied (+0% since 10/22)
- 59 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+3%)
- 17 percent of all ventilators are in use (-1%)
NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.
