2 additional COVID-19-related deaths reported in Washoe County

Nov. 17, 2020. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting two additional COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County and 230 additional COVID-19 cases.
The deceased are a male and a female in their 80s; both had an underlying health condition. There have been 222 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County, which are determined by a physician or medical examiner to be COVID-19-related as the main cause of death, underlying cause of death or contributing cause of death.
Additionally, we’re reporting 230 new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County with 102 recoveries. The active case count on Nov. 1 was at 2,321 – today it is 5,709. The 7-day moving average for new cases is at 380.1.
- Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 19,132 (+230 from 11/16)

- Recovered: 13,201 (+102)
- Active cases: 5,709 (+126)

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of November 17 (Numbers not updated on weekends):
- 79 percent staffed hospital beds are occupied (+1% since 11/16)
- 66 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (+0%)
- 51 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-1%)
- 27 percent of all ventilators are in use (-1%)
