Jan. 11, 2021. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting three COVID-19-related deaths, 174 new COVID-19 cases and the Washoe County Health District administered 620 vaccines today. The deceased are a male in his 60s and woman in her 70s and it’s unknown if there were underlying health conditions, as well as a female in her 80s with an underlying health condition. There have been 539 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County. Regarding COVID-19 vaccines, the Washoe County Health District administered about 620 COVID-19 vaccines on Monday at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center. The Health District has administered approximately 8,322 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine since Dec. 23 out of the 8,860 received (93.9%). The Health District received an additional 3,440 COVID-19 vaccines today Monday January 11 which brings the updated total to 12,300 doses received by the Health District to date (about 3,978 on hand).   • 64 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (-8%)
  • 45 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-7%)
  • 24 percent of all ventilators are in use (-4%)

The greatest need is for volunteers with computer skills, people skills, clinical and clerical skills. MRC was created to support public health and emergency response efforts during natural disasters and other emergencies by providing trained volunteers to help staff shelters, alternate care sites, and points of dispensing. Given the rise in hospitalizations, continued demand for COVID-19 testing, and now dispensing of the COID-19 vaccine, volunteers are needed to support the region.
