About 4,000 seniors 65+ invited to schedule COVID-19 vaccine

The Washoe County Health District sent email invitations and called about 4,000 randomly-selected seniors aged 65 years and older on Thursday to schedule an appointment to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Residents are asked to check their emails (including spam folders) and click the link to schedule the vaccine, or check voicemails. If you listed an email address when you signed up for the wait list, it’s likely you were sent an email invitation. The appointments are for Saturday and next week. You must be randomly selected to schedule an appointment.

On Saturday, more than 2,000 people are scheduled to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the Livestock Events Center. Many of those are seniors 65 years and older as well as others who are eligible under the essential workforce lane as outlined in the State’s COVID-19 vaccine playbook.

Those 65 and older can sign up for the Washoe County Senior COVID-19 Vaccine Wait List. If you’re a senior but don’t have access to email or the internet, call 775-328-2427 to be put on the wait list. There are not enough vaccines right now to be distributed to everyone aged 65 and older, which is over 75,000 people in Washoe County.

Frequently asked COVID-19 questions can be found on the regional website, www.COVID19WashoeVaccine.com, including information on priority lanes and for COVID-19 vaccine for seniors.
