1 COVID-19-related death, 286 new COVID-19 cases reported

Nov. 8, 2020. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting a COVID-19-related death in Washoe County and 286 additional COVID-19 cases.
The deceased is a male in his 70s with an underlying health condition.
Additionally, we’re reporting 112 recoveries. The seven-day moving average for new COVID-19 cases in Washoe County is at 304, a new record for the fifth day in a row.
The Washoe County COVID-19 Test Site, which recently changed locations inside the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center, is no longer testing people who are not showing symptoms (also referred to as asymptomatic) unless they are deemed a close contact to a positive case. The decision was made because of the current high demand for COVID-19 testing, which has resulted in delays scheduling testing and in receiving test results due to high throughput through testing laboratories. - Recovered: 12,026 (+112)
- Active cases: 3,647 (+173)
- Currently hospitalized: 120 (-4)

Hospital bed and ventilator information
According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of November 6:
- 83 percent staffed hospital beds are occupied (-3% since 11/5)
- 69 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (-2%)
- 61 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+6%)
- 22 percent of all ventilators are in use (+2%)
