Regional COVID-19 Response Team acknowledges the 1-year mark since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Washoe County
March 5, 2021. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional COVID-19 Response Team is acknowledging the one-year mark since the first COVID-19 case was reported in Washoe County.
Since March 5, 2020, community partners in Washoe County have embarked on the most comprehensive pandemic disaster response in the region’s history. In that time, 649 Washoe County residents have died due to COVID-19 and there have been more than 43,000 cases reported. Sadly, today we’re reporting three additional COVID-19-related deaths.
Today is an opportunity to reflect on the devastation this virus has caused not only our region, but the nation and the world. It’s also a chance to recognize the men and women on the frontlines of this response who stepped up in ways never imagined to help fight this disease.
We would like to thank all community partners who have had a hand in this response and their support to the community during this difficult time, including Governor Sisolak and the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services.
