Social distancing for businesses emphasized

It is important for the businesses to follow social distancing and isolation guidelines as outlined by the Governor’s COVID-19 Medical Advisory Team. Employers should not require a positive COVID-19 test result or a healthcare provider’s note for employees who are sick to validate their illness, qualify for sick leave, or to return to work. See the full bulletin here

Firefighter tested positive for COVID-19

A Truckee Meadows firefighter has tested positive for COVID-19. He is experiencing mild symptoms and is in isolation. After the quarantine period, he will be re-tested before returning to work. The employee in question had contact with his crew members, and they are also in isolation for 14 days and will be tested if they become symptomatic.

Two additional RPD officers test positive for COVID-19

Reno Police Chief Jason Soto confirmed today that two additional Reno Police Department (RPD) sworn personnel have tested positive for COVID-19. RPD is working with the Washoe County Health District to identify and contact all persons who may have come into contact with the two employees.

Chief Soto would like to reassure residents that RPD is taking the necessary precautions to reduce potential exposure risks for employees and will continue to provide the highest level of service possible to keep the residents of Reno safe and healthy.

Quarantine Housing

Temporary housing has been established at the corner of Mill Street and Edison Way to serve the needs of individuals/families who have tested positive for COVID-19 and need alternative housing for isolation purposes.  Seven units will be ready as early as the end of this week.  Each trailer consists of five rooms, each with their own private bathroom/shower/sink, queen size bed, closet and storage space.

Updated COVID-19 Business Operations Guide
In an effort to help summarize the business requirements for both essential and nonessential businesses, we’ve developed this updated regional guide to help answer the Washoe County business community’s questions. The document includes guidance from Governor Sisolak and the Nevada Health Response as well as clarifying information on topics/questions not specifically addressed in the state’s guide. Since COVID-19 is a rapidly evolving situation, we will be updating the guide regularly and posting any additional guidance or new directives from the Governor’s office at covid19washoe.com.
