148 additional COVID-19 cases, 120 recoveries, 1 COVID-19-related death reported over last 3 days

April 19, 2021. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting an additional COVID-19-related death, 148 new cases and 120 recoveries over the last three days. The deceased includes a male in his 70s and it’s undetermined if there was an underlying health condition. There have been 665 COVID-19-related deaths in Washoe County since March 2020.

The data we’re reporting today is from April 16-18

  • Sunday, April 18: 50 additional cases, 50 recoveries
  • Saturday, April 17: 50 additional cases, 45 recoveries
  • Friday, April 16: 48 additional cases, 25 recoveries, 1 COVID-19-related death

Additionally, more than 50,000 residents have been fully vaccinated at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center and more than 108,000 residents have been fully vaccinated overall in Washoe County.

  • Total COVID-19 cases in Washoe County: 44,945 (+148 from 4/16)
  • Deaths: 665 (+1)
  • Recovered: 42,296 (+120)
  • Active cases: 1,984 (+40)
  • Hospitalized with COVID-19: 37 (+9)
  • Positivity rate: 7.2% (+0.0%)
  • Vaccines administered in Washoe County: 274,326 (+10,032 from 4/16; 45.51% of Washoe County population 16+ have had vaccination initiated)
  • Washoe County residents fully vaccinated: 108,743 (+5,485 from 4/15; 28.40% of Washoe County population 16+)
  • Vaccines administered by Washoe County Health District: 122,831 (+4,407 from 4/16; 52,264 fully vaccinated)

  • 42 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (-2%)

Residents urged to fill out screening questionnaire before COVID-19 vaccine appointment at Livestock Events Center

The Regional COVID-19 Response Team is urging residents who receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center (RSLEC) to fill out the screening questionnaire the day prior to your appointment.

Washoe County residents 16 years and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and the Washoe County COVID-19 response team has launched a new scheduling platform that will allow residents to choose the brand of COVID-19 vaccine they want. Favor de notar, el Distrito de Salud ya no estará actualizando el boletín de COVID-19 los fines de semana a partir de este fin de semana.  Los lunes de aquí en adelante, los datos de enfermedades durante el fin de semana se actualizarán retroactivamente; por lo tanto, los datos de los sábados y domingos se presentarán los lunes.

Abril 16, 2021. Reno/Sparks, NV – El Centro Regional de Información está proporcionando un boletín comunitario semanal sobre la vacuna contra COVID-19 en el Condado de Washoe para ayudar a informar a sus residentes sobre el esfuerzo de vacunación a gran escala por parte del Equipo Responsivo de COVID-19 y sus socios comunitarios.

Vacuna contra COVID-19 Janssen (Johnson y Johnson)

Es posible que haya escuchado que los Centro de Control y Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC) y la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos (FDA) recomendaron pausar el uso de la vacuna Janssen por precaución.  Las agencias reportaron seis casos en todo el país con coágulos de sangre raros y severos.  Debido a esa recomendación, los residentes que estaban programados para recibir la vacuna contra COVID-19 Janssen (Johnson y Johnson) ahora recibirán las vacunas Moderna o Pfizer en su lugar.

Se recomienda a aquellos residentes que han recibido la vacuna Janssen en el Condado de Washoe a que supervisen sus síntomas y se mantengan en contacto con su médico sobre su estado de salud.  Según los CDC, los eventos adversos parecen ser extremadamente raros.  No ha habido problemas asociados con las vacunas Moderna o Pfizer.

Confirme con cada recurso individualmente, y seguido.  Estas son disponibilidades de citas aparte del uso de la herramienta de programación del Distrito de Salud del Condado de Washoe mencionada arriba.

Viajes de Uber gratis a Citas para Vacunarse

RTC se ha asociado con Uber para proveer viajes de Uber gratis hacia y desde el lugar de su cita para vacunarse, a través del Programa Piloto Uber de Washoe RTC.  Una vez inscrito en el programa piloto, los participantes pueden recibir hasta cuatro viajes gratis de Uber (hasta $35 por viaje) hasta y desde su cita para vacunarse.  Esta promoción inicio el 14 de abril y se extiende hasta el 30 de septiembre del 2021.

More than 4,000 additional COVID-19 vaccine appointments have been added at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center (RSLEC). Appointments start April 28, 2021. To schedule an appointment, follow this link.

Please note, the Health District will no longer update the COVID-19 dashboard on weekends starting this weekend. On Mondays moving forward, disease data from over the weekend will be updated retroactively; therefore, the data from Saturdays and Sundays will be present on Mondays.

Appointments are available for the free COVID-19 vaccine

April 16, 2021. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is providing a COVID-19 vaccine community newsletter in Washoe County to help educate residents on the mass vaccination effort by the COVID-19 Response Team and community partners.

Update from the COVID-19 Response Team

Providers in Washoe County have administered 264,294 COVID-19 vaccines overall (103,258 fully vaccinated). Visit the State of Nevada’s vaccine dashboard to see more.

Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 Vaccine

You may have heard that the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) recommended a pause on the use of the Janssen vaccine out of an abundance of caution. The agencies reported six cases nationwide of a rare blood clotting condition. Because of that recommendation, residents who were scheduled to receive the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine will now receive the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine instead.

Those residents who have received the Janssen vaccine in Washoe County are encouraged to monitor their symptoms and be in contact with your doctor on your health status. According to the CDC, adverse events appear to be extremely rare. There have been no associated issues with the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

All Nevadans 16 years and older now eligible

All Nevadans 16 years of age and older are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Free vaccination opportunities are available through the Washoe County Health District, the Retail Pharmacy Program and participating healthcare providers

Homebound vaccine appointments available

The Washoe County Health District is providing COVID-19 vaccines to homebound residents.

People age 16 years and older who are homebound, including those who require a taxing effort to leave home, require assistance of another to leave the house or are bedridden, can call 775-328-2427 or email covidvaccine@washoecounty.us to sign up.

Residents urged to fill out screening questionnaire before COVID-19 vaccine appointment at Livestock Events Center

If you are scheduled to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center (RSLEC), please be sure to fill out the screening questionnaire the day prior to your appointment.

The link to fill out the questionnaire only takes a few minutes and is emailed and texted to residents who sign up for a vaccine at RSLEC.

Residents are also asked to bring their confirmation email with the QR code on it by either printing it out or having it available on your smart phone. A QR code is a square, secure bar code that is located on the appointment confirmation email you receive after you schedule an appointment.

Filling out the questionnaire beforehand could speed up the time it takes to receive the vaccine by 20-30 minutes.

Free Uber Rides to Vaccine Appointments

RTC is partnering with Uber to provide free Uber rides to and from COVID-19 vaccination appointments through the RTC Washoe Uber Pilot Program. Once enrolled in the pilot program, participants can get up to four free Uber rides ($35 off each trip) to and from vaccination appointments. This promotion started on April 14 and runs through September 30, 2021.
