Cambios basados en la guía de los CDC y la FDA

Abril 13, 2021. Reno/Sparks, NV – Los residentes con citas para recibir la vacuna contra COVID-19 Janssen (Johnson y Johnson) recibirán ya sea la vacuna Moderna o Pfizer en su lugar.  Este cambio está de acuerdo con la recomendación de pausar el uso de la vacuna Janssen por parte de los Centros de Control y Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC) y la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos, por precaución.

Las agencias reportaron seis casos de coagulación raros y severos nacionalmente.  Unas 6.8 millones de dosis han sido administradas en los E.E.U.U. según los CDC y la FDA. About 6.8 million doses have been administered in the U.S. according to the CDC and FDA.

Se encomia a aquellos residentes que han recibido la vacuna Janssen en el Condado de Washoe a que monitoreen sus sintomas y se mantengan en contacto con su doctor sobre su estado de salud.  Según los CDC y la FDA, los seis casos ocurrieron entre mujeres de las edades de 18 a 48 años, y los sintomas ocurrieron de 6 a 13 días después de vacunarse.  El Distrito de Salud ha administrado alrededor de 2,878 dosis de Janssen en el Centro de Eventos Livestock de Reno-Sparks y a través de nuestro programa de atención domiciliaria.

Según los CDC, estos eventos adversos parecer ser extremadamente raros.  No ha habido problemas asociados con las vacunas Moderna o Pfizer.

1 additional COVID-19-related death, 79 new cases reported

April 13, 2021. Reno/Sparks, NV – The Regional Information Center is reporting an additional COVID-19-related death, 79 COVID-19 cases and 87 recoveries. The deceased the 665th reported in Washoe County since March 2020 and is a male in his 80s with an underlying health condition.

Additionally, more than 100,000 residents 16 years and older in Washoe County are fully vaccinated, according to the State of Nevada.

The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and the Food & Drug Administration issued a recommendation to pause the use of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine in the United States. Residents who get vaccinated at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center will receive either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine. Learn more here.

  • Recovered: 42,024 (+87)

  • Vaccines administered in Washoe County: 249,852 (+4,478 from 4/12; 41.34% of Washoe County population 16+ have had vaccination initiated)
  • Washoe County residents fully vaccinated: 100,127 (+2,425 from 4/12; 26.15% of Washoe County population 16+)
  • Vaccines administered by Washoe County Health District: 113,147 (+1,513 from 4/12; 46,199 fully vaccinated)

According to the Nevada Hospital Association, in Washoe County as of April 13:

  • 57 percent of all licensed hospital beds are occupied (+0% since 4/12)
  • 60 percent staffed hospital beds are occupied (+1%)
  • 39 percent of all Intensive Care Unit beds are occupied (+2%)

NOTE: Numbers are for all hospital patients in Washoe County and not just COVID-19 patients.

Residents urged to fill out screening questionnaire before COVID-19 vaccine appointment at Livestock Events Center

The Regional COVID-19 Response Team is urging residents who receive the COVID-19 vaccine at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center (RSLEC) to fill out the screening questionnaire the day prior to your appointment.

Residents 16+ eligible for Free COVID-19 vaccine

Washoe County residents 16 years and older are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine and the Washoe County COVID-19 response team has launched a new scheduling platform that will allow residents to choose the brand of COVID-19 vaccine they want. Change made based on CDC, FDA guidance

April 13, 2021. Reno/Sparks, NV – Residents who were scheduled to receive the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) COVID-19 vaccine will receive the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine until further notice. This change is in line with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and Food & Drug Administration (FDA) recommendation to pause the use of the Janssen vaccine out of an abundance of caution.

The agencies reported six cases nationwide of a rare and severe blood clot. About 6.8 million doses have been administered in the U.S. according to the CDC and FDA.

Those residents who have received the Janssen vaccine in Washoe County are encouraged to monitor their symptoms and be in contact with your doctor on your health status. According to the CDC & FDA, all six cases occurred among women between the ages of 18 and 48, and symptoms occurred six to 13 days after vaccination. The Health District has administered about 2,878 doses of Janssen at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center and through our homebound program.

According to the CDC, these adverse events appear to be extremely rare. There have been no associated issues with the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

The Mobile Vaccine Unit clinic in Gerlach scheduled for Wednesday, April 14 will occur and the Pfizer vaccine will be used.

Los datos reportados hoy son del – al 11 de abril.

  • Domingo, abril 11: 38 casos adicionales, 87 recuperaciones
  • Sábado, abril 10: 42 casos adicionales, 52 recuperaciones
  • Viernes, abril 9: 41 casos adicionales, 46 recuperaciones

Favor de notar que la cuenta de casos de COVID-19 e información de recuperación y muertes puede cambiar retroactivamente basado en la información actualizada que el Distrito de Salud del Condado de Washoe recibe. The data we’re reporting today is from April 9-11.

  • Friday, April 9: 41 additional cases, 46 recoveries
